Google and Constellation Sign Nuclear Power Agreements; Constellation Shares Jump 12.25%
Constellation said a 20-year agreement with Google will support 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity from uprates at 11 reactor units across six sites, with the first uprate expected by 2028 and full delivery planned before the end of 2032. A separate 15-year agreement covers 2,700 megawatts of supply from existing assets to the PJM market; Constellation said its investment in the package will exceed $4.3 billion. Constellation closed up 12.25% on October 6, while Talen and Vistra also rose; the report says neither was a party to the agreements.
Why it matters The potential benefit extends to PJM customers, not just Google: the agreement funds additional grid generation rather than reallocating existing electricity to one buyer.
What to watch next The first uprate is expected by 2028, while full delivery is planned before the end of 2032; these are separate milestones, not a single completion date.
