IRGC says two oil tankers caught fire after hitting mines near Hormuz
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy said two oil tankers were burning after striking naval mines, one east of the Strait of Hormuz and the other inside it. The IRGC accused the vessels of switching off tracking systems and using an unauthorized route; the report did not independently verify the claims. Separately, US Central Command said it had disabled a cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman after alleging it tried to breach the US blockade of Iran.
Why it matters For commercial operators, blockade enforcement carries a risk of vessel disablement, separate from the IRGC's unverified account of mine strikes.
